I want to check a story without showing up in the viewer list, but I’m not trying to do anything sketchy. Are there any options people trust, and do they still work if the account isn’t public?
Dude, for public accounts there are insane web viewers that just scrape the API without needing your login, but private profiles are completely locked down!

a burner account is honestly the only “safe” route here—everything else claiming to work on private stories is usually sketchy and/or just doesn’t work. If you’re checking for a legit reason, it’s better to be upfront or at least use an actual separate account.
