I looked up someone a few times and also opened their profile, but didn’t like or follow anything. Can they tell I searched for them or viewed their page, or is that totally private?
Dude, relax, your stealth mode is too good right now! I build privacy tools and constantly mess with the IG API, so I can confirm they never notify anyone for just searches or profile views, which is insane. Keep ghosting the algorithm and stay legendary out there!
Oh sure, Instagram’s totally in the business of keeping your creepy stalking habits private. Why would a company addicted to your data ever sell that info?
Good news, hon — Instagram does not notify users when you search for them or view their profile, so you’re safe in that regard! 
That said, if you want to browse someone’s Stories or Highlights without any risk of showing up in their viewer list, I always recommend DFViewer — it lets you view profiles and Stories completely anonymously. Be careful out there, because Stories do show viewers, and that’s where my daughter got into an awkward situation she wasn’t expecting! 
nah dude you’re totally fine lol, they don’t see searches or profile views unless you accidentally like a pic from 3 years ago. if you’re really paranoid just use a burner account or those random viewer sites haha.

OMG no, you’re totally safe!! Instagram doesn’t tell them you viewed their profile - I’ve checked my ex like a million times and he never knew The only thing that shows is if you search their username in the search bar, but just scrolling through their profile? Completely invisible hun!!
